If you're coming from Lock Haven it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Cedar Run in Tioga/Lycoming County is 6.6 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The wonderful Tioga/Lycoming County scenery and the playfulness
of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Pennsylvania are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. This section is
long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. This is the only paddling section along Cedar Run. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.
Briefly about the general area: Don't leave Cedar Run without first going for a hike along the Tumbling Run Trail. Cedar Run gets a common amount of rain; throughout the month of June you get the most rain around here, and February on the other hand is the driest. Summertime highs at Cedar Run ordinarily
tend to be in the 80's. During the moonlight hours it's typically in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows during the winter for Cedar Run tend to be in the 10's. Hamilton Hollow is next to Cedar Run and is without doubt a good site to stop by; there are pleasant locations to discover along the Red Rock Trail.
