The scenic beauty of Cambria/Clearfield County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then
no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so better bring your camping gear along. The LR11038 to West Br. Susquehanna River stretch is the only paddling stretch along Chest
Creek. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Johnstown, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The campgrounds here at Chest Creek are pretty good. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers.

down all through the winter temperatures at Chest Creek dip into the 10's. Near Chest Creek you come across Driscoll Hollow which is a fine site to stop at. Chest Creek gets a common amount of annual precipitation; the month with most of the rain is June; January is when it's the driest.
