The LR11038 to West Br. Susquehanna River stretch of Chest Creek in Pennsylvania is 34 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section. The scenic beauty of Cambria/Clearfield County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then     no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so better bring your camping gear along. The LR11038 to West Br. Susquehanna River stretch is the only paddling stretch along Chest Creek. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Johnstown, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The campgrounds here at Chest Creek are pretty good. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Chest Creek during the months of summer are in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 20's, and after the sun is   down all through the winter temperatures at Chest Creek dip into the 10's. Near Chest Creek you come across Driscoll Hollow which is a fine site to stop at.
