The put-in location is a short drive from Johnstown, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state     is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There are no other stretches to paddle along Clear Shade Creek than the Crum Road to Shade Creek stretch. The wonderful Pennsylvania scenery and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
