It seems very very small. Says Steve The nature scenery of Armstrong County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Indiana, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your camp stove. This section of Cowanshannock Creek is 11 miles long and it is classified     as a class IV section by American Whitewater. No shortage of good hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The average Pennsylvania whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. This is the only paddling stretch along Cowanshannock Creek. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people.
