Says Steve The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The nature scenery of Armstrong County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Indiana, as you can see on the road map further down. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This stretch of Cowanshannock     Creek in Armstrong County is 11 miles long and has been rated as a class IV section by American Whitewater. No shortage of good hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling rivers. The Greendale to Route 66 stretch is the only paddling stretch along Cowanshannock Creek. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. Briefly about the general area: A common amount of precipitation falls here at Cowanshannock Creek; June is the wettest month with most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. Through the summertime months, highs regularly are in the 80's at Cowanshannock Creek, and throughout summer nights   temperatures are in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's while Cowanshannock Creek overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 10's.
