The beautiful scenery of Pennsylvania and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Pennsylvania is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from     Lock Haven, as you can see on the road map further down. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling spots. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. The T418 Short Run to Pennsylvania Route 144 section is the only paddling section along Cross Fork. Briefly about the general area: On a delightful day at Cross Fork you can take a hike along the Ridge Trail; a good location to stop at is Slip Hollow. Cross Fork is a good site of common rainfall; June is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year is January. At Cross Fork all through the summer highs are in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. The cold   days of the winter come with highs in the 20's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Cross Fork. There is a pleasant hiking trail close to Cross Fork called the Gravel Lick Trail.
