The T418 Short Run to Pennsylvania Route 144 section of Cross Fork is 8.8 miles long and has been rated as a class III section by American Whitewater. The put-in is not too far from Lock Haven, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations     in advance you're all set. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. The beautiful scenery of Potter County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are not so many other good places for that around here. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. Briefly about the general area: The amount of precipitation that falls at Cross Fork is close to the national average; June is the month that gets the most rain while January is generally the driest month. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Cross Fork; Gravel Lick Trail is a good local trail. For the period of the   days of summer at Cross Fork temperatures are ordinarily in the 70's.
