The scenic beauty of Venango County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. The Van to Allegheny River stretch of East Sandy Creek is 7 miles long and is a class II+(III) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for     that. No need to look hard for hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The starting point is not too far from Oil City, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. East Sandy Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Van to Allegheny River stretch is the only one. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: East Sandy Creek is a wet location that gets lots of rainfall; July is when you get the most rain here while February is mostly the driest month. This is a popular place for folks from Oil City. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to East Sandy Creek.   Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 50's. For the duration of the winter the highs are usually in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 10's for East Sandy Creek.
