Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Pennsylvania are easier than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. If you're coming from Lock Haven it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more.     This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. This stretch of Elk Creek in Pennsylvania is 7.8 miles long and it is classified as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good spots for that around here. Briefly about the general area: Don't leave Elk Creek without first going for a hike along the Dry Hollow Trail, and naturally, A tour to Waterhouse Gap is always fun. Summertime highs at Elk Creek commonly tend to be in the 80's. During the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 50's.   The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows at Elk Creek all through the wintertime typically descend into the 10's. Go for a hike on the Kerstetter Path. Elk Creek gets a normal amount of yearly rain; the month with most of the rain is June; the driest month of the year is January.
