The starting point is not too far from Somerset, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The natural beauty of Pennsylvania and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This section of Fourmile Run in Pennsylvania is 10 miles long and is according to     American Whitewater a class II-IV section of whitewater. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Route 130 to Loyalhanna Creek at Darlington stretch is the only paddling stretch along Fourmile Run. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. Briefly about the general area: The yearly rain here at Fourmile Run is about average; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is February. High temperatures   at Fourmile Run through the warmest time of the year are in the 80's; the nighttime is a tad chillier of course, regularly in the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are commonly in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Fourmile Run are in the 10's. Possum Hollow is a fine site to have a look at close by.
