The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Pennsylvania are often easier than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less demanding. The starting point is not too far from Somerset, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The natural beauty of Pennsylvania and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This section of Fourmile Run in Pennsylvania is 10 miles long and is according to
American Whitewater a class II-IV section of whitewater. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill
up quick. The Route 130 to Loyalhanna Creek at Darlington stretch is the only paddling stretch along Fourmile Run. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your sleeping bag too.
