If you're coming from Reading it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. French Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Route 100 to French Creek Road stretch is the only one. There are many good hotels to choose from, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting     and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Pennsylvania is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners.
