If you're coming from Reading it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Pennsylvania is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. There are many good hotels to     choose from, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section of French Creek in Chester County is 7 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. This is the only paddling stretch along French Creek. Briefly about the general area: French Creek is a wet place that gets a large amount of rainfall; through the month of May you get the most rain around here, and February is the month with the least moisture. For the duration of the warm months, highs generally are in the 80's at French Creek; through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's.
