The SR 1059 to Susquehanna River stretch of Harveys Creek in Luzerne County is 6.5 miles long and is a class II-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Luzerne County and the water flowing gracefully down Harveys Creek beats anything. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Pennsylvania you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one
day trip. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your
car. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The SR 1059 to Susquehanna River section is the only paddling section along Harveys Creek. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Scranton—Wilkes-Barre, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page.
