If you're coming from East Stroudsburg it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This section of Hornbeck's Creek in Pike County is 1.8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V+ section. The natural beauty of Pennsylvania and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This section is quite short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Since you're on this site you
are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. There are no other sections to paddle along Hornbeck's Creek
than the Emery's Road to Route 209 section. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Pennsylvania are easier than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
