Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. The beautiful scenery of Pike County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Emery's Road to Route     209 stretch of Hornbeck's Creek is 1.8 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V+ section. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. Hornbeck's Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Emery's Road to Route 209 section is the only one.
