If you're coming from Pittsburgh it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful Pennsylvania scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. The Chaintown to Youghiogheny River section of Jacobs Creek in Pennsylvania is 7.1 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The Chaintown to Youghiogheny River section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The campgrounds here at Jacobs Creek are pretty good.
You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This is
a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came.
