This stretch described above is inside the Ricketts Glen State Park. It is in a natural area and no boating,swimming,fishing or any other active is allowed in the stream (Kitchen Creek). to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. This stretch of Kitchen Creek in Pennsylvania is 3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V+ section. Since you're
on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. Kitchen Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Route 487 to Route 118 stretch is the only one. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The beautiful scenery of Luzerne County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is a somewhat short section
so no need to bring snacks. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here.

Road Trail It's always good to check out Murray Reynolds Falls. Kitchen Creek gets a normal amount of yearly precipitation; the month with most of the rain is June, and the driest of the months is January. This river is always fun. A perfect spot to stop by in close proximity
to Kitchen Creek is Glen Leigh Valley, and Sheldon Reynolds Falls is a splendid local attraction. Through the months of summer, highs usually are in the 80's at Kitchen Creek with overnight lows in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Kitchen Creek sink into the 10's.
