Susquehanna / Wayne / Lackawanna
county,
Stillwater Lake to Carbondale section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I-III 9.8 miles
Nice section of the river. Scenerey is very good at the beginning but sort of degrades as you approach Carbondale. Rapids are mostly cobbles with a few rock gardens and several ledges. One that can surprise you is the ledge just before Simpson. Kind of sneaks up on you. Depending upon water level, can be a 2 - 3 foot drop. This drop should be scouted to check for strainers. Go straight through gap at center with boof or make a left at the crag in river center for a blind twisting chute. The river gradient is pretty steep so there is just about constant
white water class I and II. Says Dan
