This stretch of Lehigh River in Carbon County is 6.75 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II(III) section of whitewater. The average Pennsylvania whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers.
Briefly about the general area: Lehigh River sees pretty high levels of rainfall; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and February on the other hand
is the driest. Devils Elbow is a great site to stop by while in the vicinity. Through the warmest time of the year here at Lehigh River, high temperatures typically get into the 70's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Highs throughout the wintertime are frequently in the 20's with temperatures at Lehigh River dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights.
