The wonderful Pennsylvania scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. There are campgrounds quite near
the river where you can camp. The Rockport to Glen Onoko section of Lehigh River is 12.5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. The starting point
is not too far from Reading, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. No need to look hard for hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
