Pennsylvania whitewater - Licking Creek, Fulton County Fulton county, Knobsville to US Route 30 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     8 miles   The beautiful scenery of Pennsylvania and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Pennsylvania are often more forgiving than in other states, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. This section of Licking Creek in Fulton County is 8 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The     put-in location is a reasonable drive from Huntingdon, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Licking Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Knobsville to US Route 30 section is the only one. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: Hiking is a popular thing to do around Licking Creek; Peffer Trail is a splendid local trail, and the Appalachian Mountains is a major characteristic of the vicinity nearby. Through the months of summer here at Licking Creek, high temperatures typically   get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Licking Creek. Why not take a refreshing hike along the King Trail. Licking Creek gets a typical amount of annual precipitation; through June this area sees the most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest.
