The put-in location is a short drive from Huntingdon, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. The scenic beauty of Fulton County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming
from far and near. The Knobsville to US Route 30 section of Licking Creek is 8 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty
of places for that. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is the only paddling section along Licking Creek. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Licking Creek mostly tend to be in the 80's. All through the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's; after the sun
is down during the winter temperatures at Licking Creek descend into the 10's. Licking Creek gets a common amount of rain; June is when you get the most rain here; January is the month with the least moisture. There is a great hiking trail near Licking Creek called the King
Trail. On a glorious day at Licking Creek you can take a hike along the Peffer Trail, and this is a wonderful location in the shadow of the Appalachian Mountains.
