The nature scenery of Cambria County and the water flowing gracefully down Little Conemaugh River make the trip here worthwhile. The put-in is not too far from Johnstown, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section of Little Conemaugh River in Pennsylvania is 5.6 miles long     and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III section. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. The campgrounds here at Little Conemaugh River are pretty good. The Lilly to Portage stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. Briefly about the general area: Little Conemaugh River gets a large amount of water; the month with most of the rain is July while October is commonly the driest month. Throughout the months of summer highs here at Little Conemaugh River reach the 80's while night lows are usually in the 60's.
