This section of Loyalsock Creek is 13 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-IV section. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camping stuff too. The average Pennsylvania whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many     of the rivers here are not very demanding. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the US 220 to Forksville section is one of them. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The starting location is a short drive from Sayre, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Loyalsock Creek with overnight lows in the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the   30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Loyalsock Creek. Going for a hike along the Big Timber Spur will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area; Haystacks is in the neighborhood, and is a wonderful location. The annual rainfall here at Loyalsock Creek is about average; the month with most of the rain is June, and January meanwhile is the driest month.
