Pennsylvania whitewater - Moshannon River, Clearfield/Centre County Clearfield/Centre county, Peale Bridge to West Br. Susquehanna River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     12.5 miles   This stretch of Moshannon River is 12.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. The wonderful Clearfield/Centre County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if     you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is the only paddling section along Moshannon River. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a pretty small number of paddling rivers. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camping stuff. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. Briefly about the general area: At Moshannon River through the long summer days highs are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's, and night lows throughout the wintertime for Moshannon River tend to be in the 10's. Hiking   along the Old Huckleberry Trail is great fun.
