Pennsylvania whitewater - Moshannon River, Clearfield/Centre County Clearfield/Centre county, Peale Bridge to West Br. Susquehanna River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     12.5 miles   Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Pennsylvania is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are very easy. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from State College, as you can see on the road map further down. The beautiful scenery of Pennsylvania and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Moshannon River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Peale Bridge to West     Br. Susquehanna River section is the only one. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other places. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Briefly about the general area: Moshannon River frequently gets lots of precipitation; of all the months in a year June is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is January. Throughout the days of summer here at Moshannon River, high temperatures typically get into the 70's, and the night is a little colder of course,   frequently in the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are generally in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Moshannon River are in the 10's. Have a nice hiking adventure along the Old Huckleberry Trail.
