  The nature scenery of Clearfield/Centre County and the water flowing gracefully down Moshannon River have people coming here. This section of Moshannon River is 12.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. The Peale Bridge to West Br. Susquehanna River stretch is the only paddling stretch along Moshannon River. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The put-in location is a short drive from State College, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you
    won’t get lost. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Pennsylvania are often more forgiving than in other states, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good
for beginners. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

Briefly about the general area:
Summertime highs at Moshannon River typically tend to be in the 70's; the nighttime is a little chillier of course, ordinarily in the 50's. During the wintertime highs are typically in the 20's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Moshannon River. There
 
is a tremendous hiking trail in close proximity to Moshannon River called the Old Huckleberry Trail.
Moshannon River sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily June, that's the one that rains the most while January is generally the driest month.
