The Gifford Run to West Branch Susquehanna section of Mosquito Creek in Pennsylvania is 9.8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. The natural beauty of Clearfield County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other rivers. There's camping
available near Mosquito Creek. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The starting point is not too far from DuBois,
if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. Mosquito Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Gifford Run to West Branch Susquehanna section is the only one.
Briefly about the general area: Devils Elbow is a great location to check out while in the region; you can have a delightful hiking adventure along the Number Five Trail. For the duration of the warm days of summer, highs generally are in the 80's at Mosquito Creek. For the period
of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's. For the duration of the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Mosquito Creek. A river like this is too good to miss. Mosquito Creek is a quite wet place regularly with
a great deal of rain; throughout June this area sees the most rain while January is usually the driest month. While you're here at Mosquito Creek you can take a hike along the Number Eleven Trail; you could always discover Dry Draft.
