The Gifford Run to West Branch Susquehanna stretch of Mosquito Creek in Pennsylvania is 9.8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are not so many other good places for that around here. There's camping available near Mosquito     Creek. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are no other sections to paddle along Mosquito Creek than the Gifford Run to West Branch Susquehanna section. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. The average Pennsylvania whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Briefly about the general area: Lots of rainfall falls at Mosquito Creek; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain; January is the month with the least moisture. While you're here at Mosquito Creek you can take a hike along the Number Five Trail, and no need to travel   far to take a look at interesting stuff like Devils Elbow. This is such a great river. On a tremendous day at Mosquito Creek you can take a hike along the Number Eleven Trail, and Dry Draft is another good place to have a look at nearby. Through the summertime at Mosquito Creek highs are ordinarily in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Mosquito Creek.
