The wonderful Pennsylvania scenery and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Gifford Run to West Branch Susquehanna stretch of Mosquito Creek in Clearfield County is 9.8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Pennsylvania is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that rivers here are less demanding. This section     is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other places for that. This is the only paddling stretch along Mosquito Creek. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: Mosquito Creek is a wet place that gets a lot of rain; June is the wettest month with most rain; the driest month of the year is January. Going for a hike on the Number Five Trail is always a splendid adventure, and close by you discover Dry Draft which is a glorious location to pop by. There are great places to look at along the Number Eleven Trail, and   no need to travel far to explore attention-grabbing stuff like Devils Elbow. This river is always fun. For the period of the warmest time of the year highs here at Mosquito Creek get into the 80's. Summer nighttime lows plunge down to the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows at Mosquito Creek through the winter generally fall into the 10's.
