The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Pennsylvania are often easier than in other states, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The wonderful Lawrence County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Neshannock Creek will make you feel great. The Neshannock Gorge section of Neshannock Creek is 2 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II(III) section by American Whitewater. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. There aren’t any hotels right
nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Neshannock Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Neshannock Gorge section is the only one. There are campgrounds quite near
the river where you can camp. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. This is a somewhat short section so no need to bring snacks. The starting point is not too far from New Castle, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page.
Briefly about the general area: Throughout the warm days of summer at Neshannock Creek highs are mostly in the 80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 50's. The cold
days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Neshannock Creek temperatures descend to the 10's. Neshannock Creek gets a typical amount of rainfall; June is when you get the most rain here; February meanwhile is the driest month.
