The put-in is not too far from New Castle, as you can see on the road map further down. The natural beauty of Pennsylvania and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The Neshannock Gorge stretch of Neshannock Creek in Pennsylvania is 2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II(III) section. This is a short paddling stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people
coming here. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Pennsylvania are often more forgiving than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking,
either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. The campgrounds here at Neshannock Creek are pretty good. Neshannock Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Neshannock Gorge stretch is the only one. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
