I have not kayaked here yet. It would be better if there was a recent rain event to raise the water levels some and up the challenge. some areas are really shallow, but you can have lots of fun. Says Eric
Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Pennsylvania is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The beautiful scenery of Allegheny
County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. The put-in location is a short drive from Pittsburgh, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The campgrounds here at Pine Creek are pretty good. Getting some good exercise and just
being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. The Allison Park to Etna section of Pine Creek in Allegheny County is 6.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There are no other sections to paddle along Pine Creek than the Allison Park to Etna section. No shortage of good hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area
with plenty of spots for that.
