The starting point is not too far from Pittsburgh, as you can see on the road map further down. The natural beauty of Pennsylvania and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves
reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Pennsylvania tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that rivers here are less demanding. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places
for that. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. The Allison Park to Etna stretch of Pine Creek is 6.5 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. Pine Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Allison Park to Etna stretch is the only one.
