Says Eric The starting point is not too far from Pittsburgh, as you can see on the road map further down. The natural beauty of Pennsylvania and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves     reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Pennsylvania tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that rivers here are less demanding. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. The Allison Park to Etna stretch of Pine Creek is 6.5 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. Pine Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Allison Park to Etna stretch is the only one. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Briefly   about the general area: For the period of the summer at Pine Creek temperatures are mostly in the 80's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 60's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 30's while Pine Creek night low temperatures during the winter are in the 10's. The yearly precipitation here at Pine Creek is about average; July is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is January.
