The Allison Park to Etna stretch of Pine Creek in Allegheny County is 6.5 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The average Pennsylvania whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding.
The wonderful Allegheny County scenery and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that. No need to look hard for hotels, but if you don’t have reservations
you might end up sleeping in your car. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more.
