Pennsylvania whitewater - Pine Creek, Tioga County Tioga county, Ansonia to Blackwell section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     6 miles   The scenic beauty of Pennsylvania and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. This stretch of Pine Creek in Pennsylvania is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. The Ansonia to Blackwell section is the only paddling section along Pine Creek. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Since you're on this site     you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. The starting point is not too far from Lock Haven, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. Briefly about the general area: All through the warm days of summer here at Pine Creek, high temperatures typically get into the 70's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 20's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Pine Creek. From   a rainfall point of view Pine Creek is a rather common place; through the month of June you get the most rain around here; the driest of the months is February. Don't leave Pine Creek without first going for a hike along the Dillon Trail; there's magnificent hiking along the Pine Trail.
