Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Pennsylvania is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less demanding. The beautiful scenery of Monroe County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. There are many good hotels to choose from, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The starting location is a reasonable drive from East Stroudsburg, if you're
not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. This stretch of Pocono Creek in Pennsylvania is 10.6 miles long and is a class II-IV section of whitewater according
to American Whitewater. There are no other sections to paddle along Pocono Creek than the Tannersville to Stroudsburg section. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places.
Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Pocono Creek a wet site; the month with most of the rain is May, and February is when it's the driest. High temperatures at Pocono Creek through the long summer days are in the 70's while overnight lows are usually in the 50's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 20's, and night lows during the winter for Pocono Creek tend to be in the 10's.
