This section of Roaring Fork in Somerset County is 1.5 miles long and is a class IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Somerset County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Since you're on
this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're not from around
here don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The Rt 160 Bridge to confluence with Shade Creek section is the only paddling section along Roaring Fork.
