This stretch of Roaring Fork is 1.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV section of whitewater. The natural beauty of Somerset County and the water flowing gracefully down Roaring Fork have people coming here. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. There are some good hotels near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The starting point is not too far from Somerset, as you can see on the road map further down. There
are no other sections to paddle along Roaring Fork than the Rt 160 Bridge to confluence with Shade Creek section. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. This is a short paddling stretch so better bring some good walking shoes.
There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the summertime, highs mostly are in the 80's at Roaring Fork with nighttime lows in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Roaring Fork descend into the 10's. Roaring Fork gets a normal amount of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is July; the driest of the months is February.
