The starting location is a short drive from Scranton—Wilkes-Barre, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are     good for beginners. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The campgrounds here at Spring Brook are pretty good. The beautiful scenery of Lackawanna County and the cool fresh water beats anything. This is the only paddling section along Spring Brook. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Spring Brook mostly tend to be in the 70's with overnight lows in the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are generally in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Spring Brook temperatures sink to the 10's. What would winter be without some skiing at Montage Mountain.
