This stretch of Stony Fork Creek in Tioga County is 4.2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. The put-in is not too far from Lock Haven, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nature scenery of Tioga County and the water flowing gracefully down Stony Fork Creek attract people from near and far. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Pennsylvania are often more forgiving than in other states, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state
are quite easy. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Stony
Fork Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the State Forest Picnic Area to Babb Creek stretch is the only one. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.

are in the 50's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 20's; overnight lows at Stony Fork Creek through the winter typically fall into the 10's. Brown Point is rather near Stony Fork Creek; the Stone Quarry Trail offers hiking at its best.
