The put-in location is a short drive from Lewisburg, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch of White Deer Creek in Union County is 17.1 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Pennsylvania and the water flowing gracefully down White Deer Creek beats anything. The Coopers Mill Road to West Br. Susquehanna section is the only paddling section along White Deer Creek. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to
stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds
nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Pennsylvania is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came.
Briefly about the general area: Why not take a refreshing hike along the Kettle Hole Trail; you'll meet a lot of people from Lewisburg here. Summertime highs at White Deer Creek ordinarily tend to be in the 70's. Throughout
the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are mostly in the 20's with temperatures at White Deer Creek dipping down into the 10's all through winter nights. White Deer Creek is a good site of typical precipitation; June is the wettest month
with most rain; January meanwhile is the driest month. Hiking is a popular thing to do around White Deer Creek; Lyman Gap Trail is a delightful local trail.
