CLASS III-IV(V) 3.5 miles
Drive a another mile until you cross the rail tracks and make a quick left down a dirt rd that follows the rail track. Follow 200yrd until you reach the train observation deck and park here. Cross the tracks and look at the wounderful 3 shelf drop. If you would like to run it, head right down throught trail above fall. Start river right and work to left as you exit last shelf. watch the nice keeper and the bottem left at very high water. Says Brendon
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Pennsylvania are easier than the national norm, so keep
in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. The nature scenery of Pennsylvania and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. The Fairhope to Hyndman section of Wills Creek in unknown County is 3.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV(V)
section. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Fairhope to Hyndman section is one of them. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The starting point is not too far from Cumberland, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time
in nature are great reasons to come. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
Briefly about the general area: Don't leave Wills Creek without first
going for a hike along the Old Mail Trail. The annual rainfall here at Wills Creek is about average; through June this area sees the most rain while October is frequently the driest month. Through the warmest time of the year at Wills Creek temperatures are usually in the 70's,
and the overnight is slightly chillier of course, commonly in the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Wills Creek.
Water between fairhope and hyndman is full of bolders and water depths drop a lot in summer months. i advice that rafting should be done in the spring.
