Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Pennsylvania is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. This section of Yellow Creek in Bedford County is 10.4 miles long and it is classified as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and     some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Yellow Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Loysburg to Raystown Branch Juniata River section is the only one. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too. The put-in location is a short drive from Altoona, as you can see on the road map further down. Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Yellow Creek commonly tend to be in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows plunge down to the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's; overnight lows in the 10's for   Yellow Creek. Woodcock Valley is in the neighborhood of Yellow Creek and is positively a great place to pop by. Yellow Creek gets a common amount of rain; the month with most of the rain is July while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
