Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This stretch of Yellow Creek is 10.4 miles long and it is classified as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. If you're coming from Altoona it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page     with more info on that. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This is the only paddling stretch along Yellow Creek. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: Yellow Creek gets a typical amount of annual rain; the month with most of the rain is July, and the driest month is February. Woodcock Valley is in the neighborhood of Yellow Creek and is a perfect spot. During the months of summer highs here at Yellow Creek reach the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's.
