The wonderful Pennsylvania scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Youghiogheny River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Great exercise and spending some quality time in     nature have a lot of people coming here. The campgrounds here at Youghiogheny River are pretty good. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section is very short so no need to bring snacks. Briefly about the general area: Interesting geology is available here; Horseshoe Bend is right next door to Youghiogheny River, and don't leave Youghiogheny River without first paying a visit to Cucumber Falls. This river is so wonderful. At Youghiogheny River during the summer months highs are in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer   temperatures fall down into the 60's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 30's while Youghiogheny River nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 10's. Good hiking is available along the Great Gorge Trail, and Ohiopyle Falls is an inspiring site to explore during your stay. Youghiogheny River commonly gets lots of rain; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily July, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is February.
