A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The put-in is not too far from Mayagüez, as you can see on the     road map further down. Briefly about the general area: A great deal of rainfall falls at Guabo River; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest. Quebrada Fria is near Guabo River and is absolutely a glorious site to explore, and there are delightful places to discover along the Vereda Descanso. For the period of the warm months, highs regularly are in the 90's at Guabo River. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's.
