The Brasstown Road to Yonah Lake section of Brasstown Creek in Oconee County is 3.8 miles long and it is classified as a class V+ section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in South Carolina are easier than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The Brasstown Road to Yonah Lake stretch is the only paddling stretch along Brasstown Creek. a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Some people prefer whitewater rafting
and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. The beautiful scenery of South Carolina and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come.
Briefly about the general area: The high level of rainfall makes Brasstown Creek a quite wet place; March is the wettest month with most rain; the driest month of the year is October. At Brasstown Creek through the long summer days highs are in the 80's.
Summer night lows plunge down to the 60's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 50's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Brasstown Creek.
