If you're coming from Toccoa it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This section of Brasstown Creek is 3.8 miles long and it is classified as a class V+ section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in South Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Brasstown Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Brasstown Road
to Yonah Lake section is the only one. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. There aren’t any hotels
right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The beautiful scenery of South Carolina and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far.
Briefly about the general area: During the long summer days here at Brasstown Creek, high temperatures typically get into the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of
summer temperatures descend down into the 60's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 50's while Brasstown Creek night low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 20's. A good deal of precipitation falls at Brasstown Creek; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and October is when it's the driest.
