  The scenic beauty of South Carolina and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in South Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
    This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Gaffney, as you can see on the road map further down. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad
you came. The South Carolina Route 18 Bridge to South Carolina Route 211 Bridge section of Broad River is 17.9 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling spots.

For the period of the summer here at Broad River, high temperatures typically reach the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 60's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in
 
the 50's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Broad River fall into the 20's. A short trip to The Rapids is always worthwhile; folks from Gaffney love to come here.
All the water falling down from the sky makes Broad River a wet location; most of the rain falls through March while April is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
