Says Shoog This section of Cedar Shoals Creek in Spartanburg County is 2.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. The natural beauty of South Carolina and the cool fresh water beats anything. Great exercise and spending some quality     time in nature will make you glad you came. This is a somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. If you're coming from Union it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This is the only paddling stretch along Cedar Shoals Creek. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good places. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: A short spree to Gordons Mill Falls is always worthwhile. All the water falling down from the sky makes Cedar Shoals Creek a wet spot; the month with   most of the rain is March; September is when it's the driest. Summer at Cedar Shoals Creek comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 50's while Cedar Shoals Creek night low temperatures all through the winter are in the 20's.
