The starting point is not too far from Seneca, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in South Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This section of Chattooga River in South Carolina is 13 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III+(IV) section. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a
nearby campground. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The scenic beauty of South Carolina and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come
here and paddle. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Earls Ford to Route 76 Bridge stretch is just one of many. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places.
