Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in South Carolina are easier than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The put-in is not too far from Seneca, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There's camping available near Chattooga River. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. The nature scenery of Rabun GA / Oconee SC County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the
stream make the trip here worthwhile. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is wonderful. If you hurry
you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: At Chattooga River during the warmest time of the year highs are in the 80's with overnight lows in the 50's. Highs throughout
the wintertime are ordinarily in the 40's; nighttime lows at Chattooga River through the winter mostly fall into the 20's. The Chattooga Trail offers hiking at its best. Chattooga River mostly gets a lot of rainfall; March is when you get the most rain here; the driest month is July.
