The average South Carolina whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. The nature scenery of Oconee County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There's camping available near Chattooga River - East Fork. This is not the only paddling section in this river system,
there are others too. The put-in is not too far from Seneca, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery
is an added bonus. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came.
