  Whitewater rafting and kayaking in South Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The Route 193 to Route 290/Cassidy Bridge stretch of Chauga River in South Carolina is 5.4 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III(V) section by American Whitewater. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Route 193 to Route 290/Cassidy Bridge section is just one of many.
    The nature scenery of Oconee County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're
willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. If you're coming from Seneca it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.

Chauga River ordinarily gets a great deal of
 
rainfall; March is the month that gets the most rain, and July on the other hand is the driest. For the period of the days of summer highs here at Chauga River get into the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 40's, and night lows through the winter for Chauga River tend to be in the 20's.
The Chattooga Trail offers hiking at its best.
