The starting point is not too far from Seneca, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Route 193 to Route 290/Cassidy Bridge stretch of Chauga River is 5.4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III(V) section. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. The beautiful scenery of South Carolina and the water flowing gracefully down Chauga River attract people
from near and far. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot
of people coming here. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners.
Briefly about the general area: A large amount of rainfall falls at Chauga River; the month with most of the rain is March, and July is when it's the driest. Have a great hiking adventure along the Chattooga Trail. For the duration
of the summertime months, highs typically are in the 80's at Chauga River. Through the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 50's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Chauga River temperatures plunge to the 20's.
