South Carolina whitewater - Double Branch, Anderson County Anderson county, US 178 to State Road 88 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III     0.5 miles   This stretch of Double Branch is 0.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The wonderful Anderson County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. This is an extremely short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back     to put-in a few times. If you're coming from Anderson it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The US 178 to State Road 88 stretch is the only paddling stretch along Double Branch. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Double Branch a wet site; all through the month of March you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is April. All through the summertime months at Double Branch highs are commonly in the 80's.   Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 50's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Double Branch.
