The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in South Carolina are often easier than in other states, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The beautiful scenery of Pickens County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Brevard, if you're
not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch is short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. If you're
a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This stretch of Eastatoe Creek in Pickens County is 3.52 miles long and is a class IV+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The US 178 to Smith Creek above Lake Keowee section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system.

is March, and the driest month of the year is January. And if that's not sufficient there's a heap more cool stuff to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Eastatoe Creek with overnight lows in the 50's. For the period of the wintertime the highs
