The wonderful South Carolina scenery and the cool fresh water have people coming here. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so better not forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The starting location is a short drive from Brevard, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. good sections to paddle in this river system, the US 178 to Smith Creek above Lake Keowee section is one of them. This stretch is short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. This section of Eastatoe Creek in Pickens County is 3.52 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV+ section. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great.
