This stretch of Eastatoe Creek - Lower Gorge is 2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III(V) section. The wonderful Pickens County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Brevard, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You might
be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. This is a
short paddling stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Mill Creek to Dug Mountain Access stretch is one of them.
