The South Carolina Route 49 to South Carolina Route 56 stretch of Enoree River in Spartanburg/ Laurens border County is 6.5 miles long and is a class II+     section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The wonderful Spartanburg/ Laurens border County scenery and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the South Carolina Route 49 to South Carolina Route 56 section is one of them. The put-in is not too far from Union, as you can see on the road map further down. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Briefly about the   general area: Don't leave Enoree River without first paying a visit to Gordons Mill Falls. Enoree River mostly gets a great deal of rainfall; most of the rain falls through March while September is usually the driest month. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Enoree River. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are mostly in the 50's with temperatures at Enoree River dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights.
