The natural beauty of South Carolina and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The campgrounds here at Flat Shoal River are pretty good. This section of Flat Shoal River is 4.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to     be a class I-III(IV) section. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you're coming from Seneca it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Highway 11 to Flat Shoals Bridge section is one of them. Briefly about the general area: Through the summertime months, highs usually are in the 70's at Flat Shoal River. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's;   nighttime lows at Flat Shoal River through the winter generally sink into the 20's. The high level of rain makes Flat Shoal River a rather wet site; March is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is April.
