There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Flat Shoals Bridge     to Tanyard Bridge stretch is one of them. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. This stretch of Flat Shoal River is 3 miles long and has been rated as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. The beautiful scenery of Oconee County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: Flat Shoal River is a wet location that gets lots of rainfall; most of the rain falls all through March while April is the month with the least amount of precipitation. All through the summertime   at Flat Shoal River highs are generally in the 70's, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's.
