  Whitewater rafting and kayaking in South Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. If you're coming from Brevard it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The Raven Cliff Falls to US 276 section of Matthews Creek is 6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-V(V+) section. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there
    are lots of good rivers for that around here. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. A good workout and
a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great plus for this river. Matthews Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Raven Cliff Falls to US 276 section is the only one. The beautiful scenery of South Carolina and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything.

Cove since you're here at Matthews Creek, and a cool spot to take a look at is Raven Cliff. Matthews Creek is a relatively wet place usually with lots of precipitation; during March this area sees the most rain while January is typically the driest month.
For the period of the warm days of summer here at Matthews Creek, high temperatures generally reach the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. Through the winter highs are ordinarily in the 40's; during the dark hours in the wintertime at Matthews Creek temperatures drop to the 20's. Now, you may imagine that's loads but there's even more enjoyable things to do here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Raven Cliff Falls is a tremendous local attraction.
