South Carolina whitewater - Pacolet, Spartanburg County Spartanburg county, Clifton II to Lawson's Fork section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     3.5 miles   This stretch of Pacolet is 3.5 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Spartanburg County and the water flowing gracefully down Pacolet have people coming here. There are no other stretches to paddle along Pacolet than the Clifton II to Lawson's Fork stretch. The average South Carolina whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll     have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 50's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Pacolet.
