The starting location is a short drive from Spartanburg, as you can see on the road map further down. The Clifton II to Lawson's Fork stretch of Pacolet in Spartanburg County is 3.5 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is a pretty short section so better bring     some good walking shoes. The campgrounds here at Pacolet are pretty good. The Clifton II to Lawson's Fork section is the only paddling section along Pacolet. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in South Carolina tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Briefly about the general area: For the period of the months of summer at Pacolet highs are mostly in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 50's with temperatures at Pacolet dipping down into the 20's through winter nights.
