South Carolina whitewater - Saluda River, Greenville/ Pickens County
Greenville/ Pickens
county,
Saluda Dam to South Carolina Route 86 in Piedmont section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II 16 miles
3/31/2007 This was a nice trip. Put in behind Riverside Tavern on Hwy124, went to Hwy86 in Piedmont. Only scratched the boats a couple times in the few small rapid areas. You will have to paddle about the last 4 or 5 miles due to the back water from the Piedmont dam. Trip took 5.5 hours at this time of the year with good flow in the river. I expected it to take much longer and paddled a bit every now and then. Some fallen trees but no problem going right thru them. Will defiantly go again for a relaxing day on the river. Says Hardrock
The
beautiful scenery of South Carolina and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're not from around
