The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in South Carolina are often more forgiving than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The SR 247 to US25 stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because     these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The starting point is not too far from Greenwood, as you can see on the road map further down. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. The campgrounds here at Saluda River are pretty good. The SR 247 to US25 stretch of Saluda River is 14 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. Briefly about the general area: Summer brings highs in the 80's to Saluda River, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 50's while Saluda River night low temperatures all through the winter are in the 30's. All the water falling down from the sky makes   Saluda River a wet place; through the month of March you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months is September.
