South Carolina whitewater - Saluda River, Greenville/ Anderson/ Laurens County
Greenville/ Anderson/ Laurens
county,
SR 247 to US25 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-III 14 miles
The wonderful South Carolina scenery and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The SR 247 to US25 section of Saluda River is 14 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III
section. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the SR 247 to US25 stretch is one of them. If you're coming from Greenwood it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that.
