If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. No need to look hard for hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general
area you won't find many other paddling rivers. This section of Saluda River in South Carolina is 11 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-IV section of whitewater. Saluda River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Lake Murray Dam to Broad/Congaree
confluence stretch is the only one. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camp stove too.
