How far is the Saluda River whitewater rafting from charleston SC? Also when does the rafting operate? Do the rafts have guides in them? What is the cost? Thank you. Says Madelyn

If you're coming from Columbia it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Lake Murray Dam to Broad/Congaree confluence stretch of Saluda River is 11 miles long and
has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in South Carolina are easier than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of
the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Lake Murray Dam to Broad/Congaree confluence stretch is one of them. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other rivers. The beautiful scenery of Lexington/ Richland
County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. No shortage of good hotels, but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
